Do you qualify to apply?
There is a very good reason for the qualifications and/or requirements for application. If you dont understand a reason for something in here, and want to discuss the matter to see if it is something where the rules can be bent a little, by all means write an email to the address mentioned here and ask.
You :
- are a female survivor of homelessness, life on the street, and/or a past or current resident at a residential care centre for girls / women in South Africa.
- are unmarried, unaccompanied, aged 19 to 30, and do not need another person's permission to immigrate or leave the country.
- have very little or no family resources in your home country
- have a pronounced desire to live in Canada
- have the desire, physical and mental capacity to work as a Personal Support Worker or Live-in Care Giver.
- matriculated with academic equivalency to a Canadian grade 12 and can obtain certificates to prove it.
- speak, reads and write English language very well and are able to study at college level in English.
- operate a PC, cell phone, type sufficiently to do basic letters and emails, with basic proficiency on MS Word or OpenOffice, Internet and email.
- maintain an Email account, a Facebook account, Twitter and contribute to social networking sites.
- can get or have a passport and travel documents
- do not have a criminal record and can show a clean Police Record
- will be able to show a negative TB, HepB, HepC and HIV test result (required because of working in, and studying toward, a health-care related occupation, and for reasons of passing an immigration medical)
- have sufficient stability to pass a security screening by Canadian immigration officers who need to make a recommendation whether you will be a risk to Canada or are at risk to not return or not attend the school where you applied.
