Give-a-Life (GaL) Overview
Why GaL?
GaL is one response to a humanitarian dilemma – that burning question about the lack of fairness in the universe.
“Why are some children born in a 1st world, to a family who have a roof over their head, a job, ability to feed and clothe themselves and their new baby, and there will be love, family, life and laughter, Christmas, birthdays and Easter, education and safety and security in the child's future. And those in society who rule take care of us them and create structures to take care of future generations.
Yet, another child is born hungry and weak to parents without a roof over their head, no milk in mom's breasts, no jobs, no welfare cheque, no pension, no EI, no WSIB, no CCP, no soup kitchen, no food bank, no personal support workers, no group homes, no support from neighbours and family because they too are emaciated, no disability income, no cash for life, no clothes, no dignity, no education, no medication...just suffering to look forward to – no hope. And those in society who rule are criminals who rape, beat, rob, kill and enslave the weak.”
Theosis has been involved in creating resources for girls in these places for the past 20 years.
GaL is our latest, most dramatic and boldest effort yet. GaL enables good people like me and you with average incomes to actually give those young women a Real life, almost as we know it. Its a bit late, and a lot of very sad things have happened but we can
still give her an opportunity to get a Canadian education, a job in Canada and the possibility of Canadian citizenship – and we will hold her hand all along the way.
Where?
Theosis.Org is now based in Sarnia, Ontario, just a stone throw away from Michigan and about an hour from Detroit. We have access to adequate accommodation and administration space. Lambton College is a 15-minute bus ride from the center.
Our closest airports are London, Detroit and Toronto.
How?
Theosis Organization appeals to the Canadian public and corporate sponsors to raise the money needed for this program.
We solicit applications, screen applicants, prepare applicants, accommodate and coach applicants, and administer the program.
Candidates live-in at our facility in downtown Sarnia while they are studying.
When?
College start dates are 1 September for Fall (Autumn) Semester and 1 January for Winter Semester. The academic year in Canada runs from September to mid May only. Schools are closed for the Summer holiday from June to August. You must arrive at least 6 to 8 weeks before college starts because of the various in-house preparatory and orientation courses you HAVE to complete before your first day at Lambton College.
Who is behind GaL?
